Down District Volunteer Centre was established in 1998 to promote and support volunteering throughout the Down District Council area.

Our aim is to get people active in their communities and to support them so that they can stay active. We also provide information and advice on volunteering issues (such as how to recruit and keep volunteers) to local non profit organisations.

The Centre has a main office in Downpatrick and operates 6 outreach offices (on a part time basis) throughout the District. Since 1998 over 1000 volunteers have registered with the Centre.

In 2006 we changed our name from Down District Volunteer Bureau to Centre, and rebranded our image in line with the Volunteer Centres Northern Ireland Network.
